PHRYGIA. Laodicea ad Lycum. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Pentassarion (Bronze, 35 mm, 18.11 g, 11 h), P. Kl. Attalos, archiereus, time of Antoninus Pius, 138-161. ΙЄΡΑ [СYΝ]ΚΛΗΤΟС Draped bust of the Roman Senate to left. Rev. Π Κ [ΑΤΤ]ΑΛΟС ΛΑΟΔΙΚЄΩΝ Dionysus standing facing, head right, raising right hand over head and being supported by Satyr to right; to left, panther lying left, looking up. RPC IV online 3038 (2 specimens). Extremely rare, possibly the fourth example known. Patina stripped and with some corrosion, otherwise, nearly very fine.
